Symbolic Analysis of Crypto-Protocols Based on Modular Exponentiation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Automatic methods developed so far for analysis of security protocols only model a limited set of cryptographic primitives (often, only encryption and concatenation) and abstract from low-level features of cryptographic algorithms. This paper is an attempt towards closing this gap. We propose a symbolic technique and a decision method for analysis of protocols based on modular exponentiation, such as DiffieHellman key exchange. We introduce a protocol description language along with its semantics. Then, we propose a notion of symbolic execution and, based on it, a verification method. We prove that the method is sound and complete with respect to the language semantics.

متن کاملAdaptive Soundness of Static Equivalence
We define a framework to reason about implementations of equational theories in the presence of an adaptive adversary. We particularly focus on soundess of static equivalence. We illustrate our framework on different equational theories: symmetric encryption, modular exponentiation and also joint theories of encryption and modular exponentiation. Finally, we define a model for symbolic analysis...
متن کاملSoundness of Symbolic Equivalence for Modular Exponentiation
In this paper, we study the Dynamic Decisional Diffie-Hellman (3DH) problem, a powerful generalization of the Decisional Diffie-Hellman (DDH) problem. Our main result is that DDH implies 3DH. This result leads to significantly simpler proofs for protocols by relying directly on the more general problem. Our second contribution is a computationally sound symbolic technique for reasoning about pr...
متن کاملPseudo-random Number Generation on the IBM 4758 Secure Crypto Coprocessor
In this paper we explore pseudo-random number generation on the IBM 4758 Secure Crypto Coprocessor. In particular we compare several variants of Gennaro's provably secure generator, proposed at Crypto 2000, with more standard techniques based on the SHA-1 compression function. Our results show how the presence of hardware support for modular multiplication and exponentiation aaects these algori...
متن کاملComparison of Three Modular Reduction Functions
Three modular reduction algorithms for large integers are compared with respect to their performance in portable software: the classical algorithm, Barrett’s algorithm and Montgomery’s algorithm. These algorithms are a time critical step in the implementation of the modular exponentiation operation. For each of these algorithms their application in the modular exponentiation operation is consid...
